The Paysafecard PIN Explained: The 16 Digits, Blocked PINs and Keeping It Safe
· 2 min read
Short answer: The Paysafecard PIN is the 16-digit number printed on the receipt or shown on screen when the voucher is bought online. It isn't a password to an account: it is the value itself, so anyone who has it can spend it. A PIN can be blocked, usually when Paysafecard suspects fraud or a disputed purchase; only Paysafecard's customer service can review that. Keep the PIN private and enter it only on Paysafecard's site or in the app you sell through.
Halima's uncle sent her a photo of a Paysafecard receipt from Rome. There were three long numbers on it. Which one was the money?
Finding the PIN
The PIN is the 16-digit number, usually printed prominently in its own box. The receipt also carries a transaction or receipt number, the shop details and the value. If the voucher was bought online, the PIN is shown on screen and in the confirmation email.
| On the receipt | What it is | Share it? |
|---|---|---|
| 16-digit PIN | The voucher's value | Only when selling, and only inside the app |
| Value and currency | How much it's worth, such as €50 | Yes |
| Receipt or transaction number | The shop's record of the sale | Keep it; useful if there's a problem |
| Date and shop | Where and when it was bought | Keep it |
Keep the whole receipt until the card is sold and you've been paid.
Why a PIN gets blocked
A blocked PIN can't be spent or sold. Common reasons:
- The voucher was bought with stolen card details.
- It was reported as part of a scam, such as a fake fine.
- The purchase was disputed or reversed.
Only Paysafecard can review a block, so contact its customer service through its official website with the PIN and receipt. If someone sold you a PIN that turns out to be blocked, that's a strong sign the card was obtained dishonestly; only sell cards you obtained legitimately.
Keeping the PIN safe
- Don't post or forward photos of the receipt.
- Don't use PIN checker sites; check the balance only on Paysafecard's site, as in how to check a Paysafecard balance.
- Don't give it to a buyer before you're paid; see Paysafecard scams.
Using the PIN to sell
On KWIQ, choose Paysafecard, enter the value and add the card in the app as it asks. The app shows the naira amount before you confirm, and you're paid once the card is checked. New to Paysafecard? Start with what is Paysafecard, and see today's rate on the sell Paysafecard page.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the PIN on a Paysafecard receipt?
It's the 16-digit number, usually printed in a highlighted box on the receipt. Online purchases show it on screen and in the confirmation email. Don't confuse it with the receipt or transaction number.
Why is my Paysafecard PIN blocked?
Paysafecard can block a PIN when it suspects fraud, for example if the voucher was bought with stolen payment details or reported as part of a scam. Contact Paysafecard's customer service with the PIN and the receipt to have it reviewed.
Can a used Paysafecard PIN be sold?
Only the value left on it. Check the remaining balance first; a PIN with nothing left has nothing to sell.
