How to check your airtime and data balance on MTN, Airtel, Glo and T2

Dial *310# to check your airtime balance and *323# to check your data balance. Since 2023 these codes are the same on MTN, Airtel, Glo and T2 (formerly 9mobile), because the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) harmonised them.

Every code you need, on every network

The NCC asked all networks to use the same short codes from May 2023, so you no longer need a different code for each SIM. Dial these from the line you want to check:

MTN: airtime and data balance

On MTN, dial *310# for your airtime balance and *323# for your data balance, and load a recharge card with *311*PIN#. MTN is Nigeria’s biggest mobile network, so it’s the line most people top up for themselves and their family.

Airtel: airtime and data balance

On Airtel, dial *310# for your airtime balance and *323# for your data balance, and load a recharge card with *311*PIN#. Airtel is one of Nigeria’s largest networks, with prepaid lines across every state.

Glo: airtime and data balance

On Glo, dial *310# for your airtime balance and *323# for your data balance, and load a recharge card with *311*PIN#. Glo (Globacom) is the Nigerian-owned network, known for its data bundles and wide coverage.

T2 (9mobile): airtime and data balance

On T2, dial *310# for your airtime balance and *323# for your data balance, and load a recharge card with *311*PIN#. 9mobile was renamed T2 in August 2025 (it was Etisalat before that). Lines that started as Etisalat or 9mobile are T2 lines now, and you top them up the same way.

If a code doesn’t work

  • Dial from the SIM you want to check. On a dual-SIM phone, pick the right SIM when the phone asks.
  • Make sure you have network signal, then try again a minute later. USSD sessions time out when the network is busy.
  • Use your network’s official app or website: it shows your balances and plan expiry dates too.
  • Still stuck? Call customer care on 300 from your line.

Avoid surprise deductions

  • Dial *305# to see and stop value-added services (caller tunes, news alerts, games) that take airtime.
  • Text STOP to the short code in any subscription message you didn’t ask for.
  • Buy a data plan instead of browsing on airtime: browsing without a plan uses airtime much faster.
  • Check that your NIN is linked to your SIM (dial *996#) so your line isn’t barred.

Top up from KWIQ

When your balance is low, top up from the KWIQ app: Buy airtime and data for MTN, Airtel, Glo and T2 (9mobile), pay electricity bills and fund betting wallets, at no extra cost from KWIQ. If your money is in crypto, swap it to naira first, for free.
