USDT in Telegram Wallet: How to Move It to a Naira Payout

Telegram has its own crypto wallet, called Wallet, built into the app. Millions of people first got crypto there: from tap-to-earn games, tips in group chats, or a friend sending a few dollars of USDT by message.

If you've got USDT sitting in Telegram's Wallet and you want naira in your bank, here's how to move it safely.

Before you start: two things to check

1. Your KWIQ deposit address and network. Open the KWIQ app, go to the USDT wallet, tap deposit, and note two things: the address and the network shown with it.

2. Whether a memo is needed. If KWIQ's deposit screen shows a memo, tag or comment for that coin and network, you'll need it. If it doesn't, you won't. Our explainer on memos and destination tags explains why some networks use them.

Step by step

1. In Telegram, open Wallet and select your USDT balance.
2. Choose to send or withdraw to an external address (rather than to another Telegram user).
3. Choose the network that matches the one KWIQ shows. Wallet offers USDT on more than one network, and they're not interchangeable. If you're unsure what the names mean, see TRC20 vs BEP20 vs ERC20.
4. Paste your KWIQ address. Never type it.
5. Add the memo only if KWIQ showed one.
6. Check the fee and the amount that will arrive, then confirm.
7. Send a small test first the first time, then the rest.

When it arrives

Once your USDT is credited in KWIQ, choose how much to sell. You see the rate and the naira amount before you confirm, swapping to naira is free, and naira hits your bank account in just 4 seconds.

Common mistakes

• Choosing a different network from the one your KWIQ address uses. If it happens, read what to do if crypto was sent on the wrong network right away.
• Sending to another Telegram user by mistake instead of an external address.
• Adding a memo when none is needed, or leaving it out when one is.
• Sending a coin KWIQ doesn't list. Check the coin list in the app before you send anything other than USDT.

What about game tokens?

Tap-to-earn games often pay in their own tokens. Those usually need swapping into USDT (or another coin KWIQ supports) before you can sell them for naira.
