AI Crypto Wallet Finder and AI Cloud Mining Apps: Why They're Scams

· 3 min read

Short answer: 'AI crypto wallet finder' apps claim to scan for abandoned wallets and hand you the coins inside; AI cloud mining apps claim to mine for you once you deposit. Neither works as advertised. Finding the key to someone else's wallet by guessing is practically impossible, and the apps make money by charging 'withdrawal fees', taking deposits or installing malware that steals your own wallet. Don't install them, and never enter your recovery phrase into one.

The video shows a screen full of scrolling wallet addresses. Every few seconds one turns green: "Wallet found: 0.42 BTC". Download the APK, the caption says, and let AI find abandoned crypto for you. It's one of the most searched "AI crypto" phrases in Nigeria, and every version of it is a trap.

How the "wallet finder" story works

The pitch: there are millions of wallets whose owners lost their keys, and AI can find the keys and claim the coins.

The reality: a crypto private key is chosen from more possibilities than there are atoms in a mountain range of planets. No computer, AI or otherwise, can guess one that holds coins. The green "found" wallets are animations. What the app actually does is one of these:

What happens next How you lose
You're asked to pay to "unlock" or withdraw the found coins You pay; there were never any coins
You're asked to upgrade to a "premium AI engine" Same, with a bigger fee
The APK asks for broad permissions on your phone Malware reads your screen, clipboard and other apps
You're asked to "connect" or import your own wallet Your recovery phrase is stolen and your wallet emptied

APKs from outside the official app stores are the most dangerous part. Our guide to spotting fake crypto apps explains what to check.

AI cloud mining: the same trick, a different costume

AI cloud mining apps say you rent mining power, AI optimises it, and you earn every day. The signs it's a scheme:

  • Fixed daily returns. Real mining income moves with the coin's price, the network's difficulty and electricity costs.
  • Bigger "plans" for bigger deposits, with bonuses for recruiting.
  • Withdrawals that need a fee or a minimum you never quite reach.

If you want to understand genuine mining, read crypto mining for beginners. Mostly you'll learn that it's an equipment business, not an app.

If you've already used one

  1. Uninstall the app and run a security scan.
  2. Assume any wallet on that phone is exposed. Create a new wallet on a clean device and move the funds. A new phone or a factory reset is safest.
  3. Change passwords for your email and any exchange or crypto app, from a trusted device, and turn on two-factor authentication.
  4. Revoke token approvals if you connected a wallet to any site; see wallet drainers and token approvals.
  5. Don't pay "recovery agents". People offering to get your money back for a fee are the second wave of the same scam.

Report scams to the SEC Nigeria and warn the people who shared the video with you.

Real crypto, checked and cashed out

Real crypto is boring in a good way: you can see it on an explorer, send it, and sell it. If someone pays you in USDT, check it with our USDT transaction checker. When you want naira, sell on KWIQ with zero fees and withdraw to any Nigerian bank; and if you want to own crypto, buy it with naira in the app, where every coin KWIQ has a wallet for is available. Frequently asked questions

Can an app really find lost Bitcoin wallets?

No. A wallet's private key is a number so large that guessing one that holds coins is, in practice, impossible for any computer or AI. Apps that show 'found' wallets are showing made-up results to get you to pay or to install more software.

Is AI cloud mining legit?

Cloud mining that promises fixed daily returns from AI is a common scam format. Even genuine mining depends on equipment, electricity costs and coin prices, and doesn't pay a guaranteed amount every day.

I installed a wallet finder APK. What should I do?

Delete it, run a security scan, and if any wallet on that phone holds crypto, move the funds to a new wallet created on a clean device with a new recovery phrase. Change passwords for email and exchange accounts from a device you trust.

Why do these apps ask for a fee before I can withdraw?

Because the fee is the product. The 'balance' was never real; the payment you make to release it is what the scammer was after.
