Crypto to OPay: How to Withdraw From Trust Wallet, Bybit or Binance

· 4 min read

Short answer: You can't send crypto straight into OPay, because an OPay account holds naira. Sell the crypto first, then withdraw the naira to OPay: send your USDT or Bitcoin from Trust Wallet, Bybit or Binance to your KWIQ deposit address on the network KWIQ shows, swap it to naira (free on KWIQ), choose OPay in the bank list, enter your 10-digit OPay account number and withdraw.

Chidi runs a phone accessories stall in Aba and does design work on the side for clients abroad. The clients pay in USDT, sometimes into his Bybit account and sometimes into Trust Wallet. Everything else in his life runs on OPay: suppliers, his POS float, transfers to his mum. What he wanted to know was simple. How does the USDT get into OPay?

The short version: crypto can't go into OPay directly. It has to become naira first. Here's how to do that from each of the places your crypto might be sitting.

Why there's no "send to OPay" button for crypto

OPay gives you a naira account with a 10-digit account number, just like a bank. Crypto moves between crypto addresses on a blockchain. The two don't connect, so somebody has to buy your crypto and pay you naira. There are two ways that happens:

Sell on a cash-out app (KWIQ) Sell to a person (P2P)
Who pays you The app, from its own account A buyer you've never met
What you wait for Your crypto deposit to confirm A stranger to send the money
The rate Shown in the app before you confirm Set by each buyer
Main risks Sending on the wrong network Fake payment alerts, third-party payments, accounts flagged

This guide uses the first route. If you sell P2P, read the section near the end first.

Before you start: your OPay account number

Open the OPay app and copy your account number from there. For most people it's their phone number without the first zero, but don't rely on that: one wrong digit sends the naira to a stranger. You'll enter this number when you withdraw from KWIQ.

From Trust Wallet to OPay

  1. Copy your KWIQ deposit address. In the KWIQ app, open the wallet for the coin you hold (USDT or Bitcoin, for example), copy the address and note the network.
  2. Send from Trust Wallet on that network. Open the coin with the matching network label, tap Send, paste the address and confirm. For USDT you need a little TRX (for TRC20) or BNB (for BEP20) in Trust Wallet to pay the network fee; why you need TRX or BNB explains it.
  3. Sell for naira once the deposit shows in KWIQ.
  4. Withdraw to OPay (see below).

The detailed sending steps are in how to send USDT from Trust Wallet, and the whole route is in Trust Wallet to Nigerian bank.

From Bybit or Binance to OPay

  1. Copy your KWIQ deposit address and note the network, as above.
  2. Withdraw on-chain from the exchange. Choose the coin, paste the address, pick the network KWIQ showed you, check the fee and confirm with your security codes. An internal transfer won't work; it only reaches other users of the same exchange.
  3. Sell for naira once the deposit is confirmed in KWIQ.
  4. Withdraw to OPay.

Withdrawing the naira to OPay

In the KWIQ app, after you've sold:

  1. Choose to withdraw naira.
  2. Pick OPay from the bank list.
  3. Enter your 10-digit OPay account number, carefully.
  4. Confirm the amount and withdraw.

Swapping crypto to naira on KWIQ has zero fees, and you see the exact naira amount before you confirm the sale. KWIQ's naira payouts can land in as little as 4 seconds, and from there it's an ordinary transfer into your OPay account, ready to spend, send or withdraw at a POS agent.

To see roughly what you'll get first, check the USDT to naira rate or the Bitcoin to naira rate, or go straight to selling USDT to OPay.

Should the account be in your own name? KWIQ lets you withdraw to someone else's account, but your own OPay account keeps things simple if a transfer ever needs checking.

If the naira doesn't show in OPay

First, check the withdrawal in KWIQ: the amount, and above all the account number. Then give it a little time, since bank transfers occasionally queue. Naira withdrawal delayed? lists the common reasons and what to do. KWIQ's support is available 24/7 in the app if you need help tracing a payment.

If you sell P2P into OPay instead

Selling to a person who pays into your OPay account can work, but it's where most crypto cash-out problems in Nigeria start:

  • Fake alerts. Screenshots and SMS alerts can be forged. Only money you can see in your OPay balance is real; see fake credit alerts in crypto deals.
  • Third-party payments. If the naira comes from an account that isn't the buyer's, it can be reversed or get your account flagged. Third-party payments in P2P explains why.
  • Account restrictions. Disputed payments are a common route to a restriction on your account; PND after a crypto trade covers what that means.

How to avoid P2P scams has the full checklist, and selling crypto without P2P shows the alternative.

From crypto to spendable naira

Chidi's routine now takes a few minutes: send to KWIQ, sell, withdraw to OPay, and the money is ready for his suppliers. To set up yours, download the KWIQ app, or create a free account on the web if your phone is short on storage.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send USDT directly to my OPay account?

No. An OPay account holds naira, and a crypto transfer can only go to a crypto address. Sell the USDT for naira first, for example on KWIQ, and withdraw the naira to your OPay account number.

How do I find my OPay account number?

It's shown in the OPay app. For most people it's their phone number without the first zero, but copy it from the app rather than guessing, because one wrong digit sends the money to someone else.

How long does it take for the naira to reach OPay?

Once your crypto deposit is confirmed and you've sold it, KWIQ's naira payouts can land in as little as 4 seconds. The transfer into OPay is an ordinary naira bank transfer, like any other.

Can I withdraw to someone else's OPay account?

Yes, KWIQ lets you withdraw naira to an account that isn't in your name. Using your own account keeps things simple if a transfer ever needs to be checked, so it's the better habit.

Does KWIQ charge a fee to sell crypto and withdraw to OPay?

Swapping crypto to naira on KWIQ has zero fees, and the app shows the naira amount before you confirm. The only other cost is the network fee for sending the crypto to KWIQ, which goes to the blockchain.
